Spring & Summer

  • Turn the water back on at cabin opening
  • Turn on faucets, flush all systems and clean faucet aerators
  • Turn on electricity and heat
  • Check the salt level in the water softener
  • Inspect the boiler and heating system and put in a new filter if needed
  • Check pipes for rust and damage
  • Turn on the refrigerator and freezer before your arrival
  • Check and test the sump pump

Fall & Winter

  • At cabin closing, shut off plumbing to avoid burst pipes over the winter
  • Drain/blow out cabin water systems from the well or the pressure tank
  • Throw away any food left behind in refrigerators or trash
  • Turn off the water heater and water pump
  • Winterize the water softener
