Clean. Courteous. Professional.
When Kurt and Dana Koegel launched Koegel Plumbing and Heating Solutions, LLC., in 2012, these three words were a natural fit as their tagline.
Something I believe is lacking in our industry is professionalism. It doesn’t take much to be clean, courteous or professional.
Being clean is a basic value, said Kurt, yet it is often times ignored by many in the industry. If people come in and find the workspace cleaner than when you found it, they find that shocking. Some people will call and ask, ‘Were you here?’
Being courteous starts by respecting a customer’s time. We call ahead, we stick to that time, and we show up on time. It is just common courtesy.
We don’t do shortcuts. We are professional. We are licensed and insured. We adhere to that level of service.
We will give you options to stay in the budget, but we can’t band aid things — it is just not professional. The service we provide has to work for everyone. We aim to make our clients happy and provide a valuable service!

Dana didn’t start out as a co-owner in a plumbing business, but she always loved to serve people. While raising her and Kurt’s two daughters, she served the children of Parker’s Prairie as a volunteer in the MN Reading Corps. After that she went to Alexandria Technical and Community College to earn her LPN license. Dana worked at Tri-County Healthcare in Wadena, MN as a Clinic Nurse for two years. Her next service position led her to Douglas County Hospital as a Quality Control Nurse. In 2015 Dana decided to serve in a different way, by becoming partner in Koegel Plumbing and Heating Solutions, LLC. In her new position, she takes care of the office duties and works on site with Kurt. “The customers just think it’s the neatest thing to see a female plumber!” “One of things that drew me to plumbing, was the interaction with customers and being able to serve people in their time of need, kind of like nursing.”

Kurt has been in the plumbing industry for nearly 30 years. He started as a teenager working for his uncle in the summers. His dad was a plumber, his two uncles were plumbers, and he also had two cousins who were plumbers. He was trained in the union and performed his five-year apprenticeship at a young age. He then earned his Master’s license in plumbing, the highest designation in the industry.
Kurt has been around the industry a long time and seen many different projects. Problems come up all the time and Kurt loves being the hero that solves the challenge.
